A 25 minute video that looks at families with gay, lesbian or bisexual sons and daughters. Parents share their experiences and feelings, fears and joys on discovering that their child is not heterosexual. These families give open and honest insight into their personal lives in the hope that it will assist other families when faced with the issue of homosexuality.

Right from the start book

"Right from the start" is a first reading experience for parents and baby. Launched by the Premier of South Australia and well known Australian author Mem Fox, this is a free book written and produced by Parenting SA within Children, Youth and Women's Health Service. 

This book is given out to every newborn in S.A. from 1st October 2003.

Based on latest research, it brings together many of the things babies need most to grow and develop - closeness, safety, touch, seeing, hearing and learning about sounds, as well as gradually learning what they mean. It's about relationship building as well as early literacy.

Right from the start dvd

A dvd package that includes a 12 minute animated dvd, 6 page booklet and 8 flashcards that focuses on babies' emotional needs and shows ways to respond. It brings together the latest information based on current studies that shows responsive parenting has a positive and important impact on a baby's overall development.

The very simple but important messages are best dealt with by viewing the video in conjunction with the booklet. The booklet has discussion triggers for use in parent education.

The information can be used by parents, caregivers and professionals.
